DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Cartier, European Watch and Clock Co, jump hour, 44mm, thin profile case with 7.0mm front/rear thickness with crystal included, 18K gold OF case, engine turned silvered dial with jump hour aperture within upper portion, SW-SS, lever escapement with capped escape wheel, 19J, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, no visible s#. Gross weight of assembled watch 26.1 dwt (40.6 g). Our consignor notes that this example is "partially recased."
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, balance not moving freely, crown/stem assembly is missing so winding and setting function is untested, overhaul needed, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, perimeter of barrel bridge with some dark spotting outside the crown wheel, some small additional spots and micro-fine scratches elsewhere, hairspring stud bridge is missing a screw, spacers inserted beneath case screws; dial with darkening and spotting throughout, "Cartier" signature above hour aperture remains weakly legible, visible portion of jump-disk with "11" hour figure is excellent; fine replacement minute hand; case shows light wear, mild rippling at center rear indicating likely polished removal of initials, no dents, case rear with some play at hinge and opens well wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 120 degrees), pendant with some marring to internal portion of crown seat; bow pivots semi-freely and has some color difference to other portions of case, crown/stem assembly is missing; good glass crystal.
